Review by Andrew Novick

If  you're starting to use Crystal Reports with the version that comes in Visual Studio.Net and this is the first time that you're using any version of Crystal Reports then definitely get this book.  If you've used Crystal Reports again you might consider it because using the version in Visual Studio can be a frustrating experience.   Although I've used Crystal Reports before I found this book useful due to it's clear explanations of what's really going on with all the various options and what it takes to make it do what you need it to do.

Although there is useful information in the book, most of it is the more mundane How-to on creating Crystal Reports.  Since the report designer is almost identical to all other versions there isn't much value in the bulk of the book.  I ended up skimming through a lot of it.

The bottom line is that  I found parts of this book useful.  Worth the expense and the time because the parts that are helpful got me past some of the poorly documented parts of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio.Net
