SQL Server Loadfest Frequently Asked Questions

The following are some questions that you may have about the SQL Server Loadfest.  If you're thinking of attending and have questions about the event, please feel free to contact Andy Novick at anovick@novicksoftware.com

Q: What version of SQL Server will you be installing?
A:  SQL Server 2008,  Enterprise Edition will be demoed but you may install any edition that you wish. 
Q: What operating system should I be running?
A: SQL Server 2008 will install on most versions of Windows, such as XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008.  Detailed requirements are located here:

Q: Can I bring a laptop and install on that?
A: Yes.  There will be plenty of power available.  You won't have to run on batteries.
Q: Can I install on a virtual machine?
A: Yes.  SQL Server 2008 can be installed on a virtual machine.
Q: Can I bring a desktop or server?
A: Yes.  There will be power available for desktops or small servers.
Q: Do I have to have a computer?
A: No. SQL Server 2008 installation will be demoed on the room monitors for everyone to follow. 
Q: Will there be someone to help if I run into a problem?
A: Yes.  There will be proctors available to help.  In addition, one of the breakout sessions in the afternoon will be the SQL Server Clinic where you can get follow-up help.
Q: Will there by lunch?
A: Yes.  Thanks to our sponsor, Ntierty, lunch will be provided.
Q: Is there a cost for this event?
A: No.  This event is entirely free.
