Tips and Tricks for:  FrontPage 2002 and FrontPage 2003

The Problem:   Error: "The following pages in your web site contain link bars or navigation bars that use new formatting options."

When publishing a web using FrontPage 2002 or 2003 you may encounter a message that says, "The following pages in your web site contain link bars or navigation bars that use new formatting options. They will not display property because the server you are publishing to does not support these features.  The message shows a list of pages and then goes on to say: "To enable link bars, publish your Web site to a server running the latest version f the FrontPage Server Extensions or Share Point Services."

Solution: Upgrade the FrontPage Server Extensions on your server or switch to Windows 2003.

The problem is that the version of the server extensions is 2000 or less and the Web uses a component that requires a newer version.  There was a new version of the FrontPage Server Extensions with the 2002 version (a.k.a. XP).  There aren't any new extensions for FrontPage 2003.  Download the FrontPage Server Extensions from Microsoft.

An alternative is to switch to a server that's running Windows Server 2003.  It includes the 2002 version of the extensions.
